Ford Motor Company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have dropped four recalls involving five different vehicles in a single day.
“Ford is aware of the NHTSA investigation and will, as always, cooperate fully with the agency,” said company spokesman Dan Pierce.
Much of the increases being posted by automakers are due to sales of smaller, fuel-efficient cars, which consumers are selecting in the face of rising gas prices.
Chrysler continues to lead the way and posted the largest increase of the Big Three.
For the second straight year, hybrid cars have lost market share, despite the whopping increase in choices consumers have available to select from.
