Just the Basics

  • Available in Louisiana, Nevada, and Ohio only and so small it isn’t rated by all the major financial rating companies
  • Easily accessible via the website, phone, or the company’s own app
  • GoAuto Insurance offers car insurance only so there are no home and auto bundles

GoAuto Insurance is one of the smaller companies operating in only a few U.S. regions.

Online customer reviews show mixed satisfaction with GoAuto Insurance and some users wondered if the company was a scam. The answer is no, but if you don’t know how to tell if your agent and insurer are legit you can do a few basic checks before you take out a policy.

In this GoAuto Insurance review, you will see the company could be a good choice if you live in the applicable regions and are looking for affordable car insurance. Before making your choice, it’s a good idea to consider all the factors that affect the price of car insurance.

What coverage does GoAuto Insurance offer?

GoAuto Insurance offers the following standard car insurance policies:

  • Bodily injury and property damage liability insurance is the minimum coverage you’ll need to legally drive. If you’re in an accident, GoAuto Insurance will meet the other person’s medical expenses and vehicle repairs bill.
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM)means GoAuto Insurance will pay your medical expenses and car repairs if the other driver was at fault, but they have no or little insurance to pay your bills.
  • Collision coverage means GoAuto Insurance will pay the bill for your own car repairs, no matter who was at fault in the accident.
  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP) means GoAuto Insurance will pay your medical bills, funeral expenses, and lost wages, no matter who was at fault.
  • Medical Payments (MedPay) means GoAuto Insurance will pay a percentage of your medical expenses, no matter who was at fault.
  • Comprehensive coverage means GoAuto Insurance will meet the costs of other negative events, including vandalism and theft.

But that’s not all, as they do have some add-ons available.

GoAuto Insurance Review: Limited Add-ons and Discounts

Unlike some car insurance companies, Go Auto Insurance does not offer niche policies, such as roadside assistance or ride-sharing insurance.

The company may offer some standard discounts, such as for good driving or for paying on time, but the website does not make these immediately known.

Similarly, if you feel you might qualify for certain discounts, such as an A+ student discount or a green vehicle discount, another company might offer a better deal.

However, if you are a resident of the state of Nevada, Ohio, or Louisiana and need only minimum coverage, GoAuto Insurance could meet your needs well.

Whatever you’re looking for, comparison shopping is a great way to see what’s on offer in your region.

How much does GoAuto Insurance cost per month?

“Low-Cost Car Insurance” is the company slogan. The website doesn’t list premiums but we got in touch with a representative for an auto insurance quote.

  • The company offers new customers a six-month policy only. After a six-month period with no claims, the policy may be renewed for a year.
  • The quoted premium was $470 for six months if paid-in-full or a $106 deposit followed by five monthly payments of $84.
  • The quote was for a 38-year-old married female teacher, with a clean driving record, living in Ohio, and driving a 2010 Audi.
  • Liability insurance terms were 25/50/25, which refers to $25,000 in bodily injury per person, $50,000 in bodily injury per accident, and $20,000 in property damage.
  • The premium included liability insurance as well as included comprehensive and collision coverage.
  • There would be a $500 deductible, $35/day rental reimbursement, and $40 towing reimbursement.

Overall, $84/month seems like a good deal. However, our GoAuto Insurance review shows the company leans toward the cautious side.

This is indicated by the requirement that you can initially sign up for six months only, and you must maintain a clean-record before you can take out a year-long policy.

Also, if you’re unsure about when to use your deductible, make sure you talk to your agent before you sign on the dotted line.

Does GoAuto Insurance have good financial ratings and customer reviews?

As mentioned, GoAuto Insurance is a smaller auto insurance company that does not feature on all the major financial rating lists.

One rating organization, Better Business Bureau, gives GoAuto Insurance an A+ rating. However, the organization does not grant GoAuto Insurance accreditation.

GoAuto Insurance Review: Mixed Consumer Experiences

Better Business Bureau has details of two negative complaints against the company. The complaints relate to the raising of premiums and a policy not being canceled as requested.

Clearsurance showed further reviews by dissatisfied customers. On the other hand, there were positive reviews from policyholders who were happy with the straightforward service.

Our GoAuto Insurance review shows the company is best suited for low-risk drivers who can pay in advance.

What’s the final verdict on GoAuto car insurance?

If you live in Ohio, Nevada, or Louisiana and are likely to maintain a clean driving record, this no-nonsense company could be the one for you.

For those people needing specialist coverage or seeking unusual discounts, another company might be a better fit.
