While Scion may not have had anything new to show at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, that didn’t stop it from confirming its position as Toyota’s youth brand. The Scion booth was crammed full of customized cars, ranging from mild personalization to wild custom jobs.
There actually seemed to be a bit of something for everyone. On hand were:
- The 2011 Scion tC Tuner Challenge, created by Shawn Baker for the 2010 SEMA show. This heavily modified tC actually doesn’t look all that wild, thanks to Baker’s attention to detail. The truth is that Baker has touched on pretty much every part of the car.
- A sexy-looking 2011 xB Release Series 8.0
- The Squid, winner of the Scion Battle of the Builds contest, which pitted military divisions against each other in an xB customization. Not surprisingly, the Squid was built by the United States Navy based in Mayport, Florida.
- The xD rally car, my own favorite, prepared by 0-60 Magazine and Sparco. This little monster would be perfect for a tarmac event like Targa Newfoundland or La Carrera Panamerica.
