What does it cost to commute to work?
That’s going to depend on a number of variables, such as distance, fuel costs, fuel economy, and tolls. However, when looking at averages, a few numbers do emerge. The average person spends 25.1 minutes traveling to work, so 52 minutes roundtrip. With an average distance of 30 miles and if you commute 10,000 miles or less per year, you’ll pay on average, 99.2 cents per mile. That factors in gas, maintenance, insurance, etc. That works out to $29.76 per day, and $7,142 per year. That can be quite expensive. Consider carpooling in order to save some money.
