What are the point values of traffic violations in Georgia?
While your license can be suspended for certain activities in Georgia, it can also be suspended if you accumulate too many points on your driver’s license. Each traffic violation is worth a number of points. As the severity of the violation increases, so does the number of points it is worth. The following are some traffic violations and their point values:
• Reckless driving – 4 points
• Unlawful passing of a school bus – 6 points
• Improper passing on a hill or curve – 4 points
• Speeding – 2 to 6 points
• Disobeying a police officer or traffic control device – 3 points
• Possession of an open container of alcohol – 2 points
• Failure to adequately secure a load – 2 points
• Child restraint (first violation) – 1 point
• Child restraint (second or subsequent offense) – 2 points
• Aggressive driving – 6 points
• HOV lane violation (4th and subsequent) – 1 point
• All other violation – 3 points
