Will having a high-risk spouse impede my ability to get car insurance?

A person is usually considered high risk if he or she has been in a number of accidents or have committed a number of traffic violations, usually serious ones. Having a spouse like this will likely affect your car insurance search. Some insurance companies may decline to take you, but most are looking more at you than your partner. What is more likely is that your car insurance premiums will skyrocket. If you won’t be letting your spouse drive, you could exclude them from your policy, thus negating their negative impact on your premiums.
