If you have comprehensive car insurance, you can certainly file a claim. However, there are certain rules you have to follow. For a car insurance company to pay out on a vandalism claim, you usually need to file a police report about the damage. If you know who did it, they may also have an additional requirement. You may be required to not only file a police report, but also press charges against that person. Your insurance company will want you to assist them in the legal process in order to get the money back from that person.
