The first step to getting your driver’s license when you are 16 is to get your learner’s permit. You can get this as soon as you turn 15 years old. You’ll need to pass a vision and written test to get it. You’ll also need parental permission. The next step is the intermediate license. You must hold your learner’s permit for at least 10 days and complete 50 hours of driving before you can apply. You will need to pass a driving test to get your intermediate license. You must hold this until you are 17 years old before you can get your full license. If you took driver’s education, you can get your full license as early as 16 ½ years of age.
