The Top 10 Most Ticketed Vehicles

Some cars are chick magnets, and others just attract tickets. The notion that certain cars get ticketed more than others was tested by Quality Planning, an analytics company that ranked the most ticketed vehicles based on the number of moving violations per 100,000 miles driven. The results may surprise you and make you think twice about the red sports car myth. Here are the top 10 most ticketed vehicles:

  1. Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Convertible

Believe it or not, the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class convertible is the No. 1 most ticketed vehicle on the road. This flashy roadster may be a luxurious ride, but it was made for speed. All kinds of speed demons get behind the wheel of SLs, but 53-year-old males are the ones who refuse to hit the brakes and end up with the most tickets in this sports car.

  2. Toyota Camry Solara Coupe

The Toyota Camry Solara Coupe comes in second place for the most ticketed cars in the country. For several years in a row, the inexpensive and fuel-efficient Toyota Camry has continued to rank as the best-selling car in America. And it's these incentives that make drivers more likely to use the Camry for long, high-speed commutes, therefore increasing the chances of being ticketed.

  3. Scion tC Coupe

The Scion tC is the third biggest ticket magnet. Young drivers enjoy driving this inexpensive and sporty car, but can't seem to take their foot off the gas pedal. These zippy coupes have more than three times as many moving violations as the average car and the biggest offenders are males, aged 30.

  4. Hummer H2/H3 SUV

The Hummer H2/H3 is a big vehicle with a pricey track record. Hummer owners, specifically 46-year-old males, are the fourth biggest offenders when it comes to getting ticketed. These massive SUVs tower over other cars and practically say "come and get me" to cops.

  5. Scion XB Hatchback

The Scion XB Hatchback may be known for its recognizable boxy, compact shape, but police know it by the lead-foot drivers behind the wheel. The Scion XB attracts young, male drivers who like to drive fast and furiously. Unfortunately for them, their ride typically ends with a ticket.

  6. Mercedes-Benz CLS-63 AMG Sedan

The Mercedes-Benz CLS-63 AMG Sedan is the sixth most ticketed car on the road. It seems as if drivers can't help themselves when they get behind the wheel of this sharp-looking and rubber-burning automobile. The biggest offenders are 46-year-old males who have a need for speed.

  7. Acura Integra Coupe

Coming in seventh place is the Acura Integra Coupe. This sporty two-door car is very popular with young, male drivers, who like to take risks and drive fast. Even though the Acura Integra hasn't been sold new in the United States since the '90s, drivers have managed to maintain the fast and fierce little car, with tickets and all.

  8. Pontiac Grand Prix

Even though it lacks the speed and flashiness of other cars on the list, the Pontiac Grand Prix has maintained a reputation as a sporty, inexpensive vehicle that attracts both aggressive male drivers and police officers. The Grand Prix is the eighth most ticketed vehicle on the road, with 82% more tickets than the average.

  9. Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG is the ninth most ticketed vehicle on the road, totaling almost 80% more than the average number of moving violations. It doesn't take much for drivers to put the pedal to the metal and get carried away in this sharp and speedy convertible. Just like the other ticketed Mercedes drivers, middle-aged men are the biggest offenders behind the wheel of the CLK 63 AMG.

  10. Volkswagen GTI Hatchback

The Volkswagen GTI Hatchback comes in as No. 10 on the most ticketed vehicles list. The VW GTI is very popular among young, male drivers, who enjoy the sporty style and zippiness of this German car. Between the entertaining handling and turbocharging components, police are going to have their hands full with GTI drivers.
