At the Chicago and Detroit auto shows, the Ford displays were heavy on Mustangs that had made a trip to a tuner. In Toronto, they turned their attention to more of the product line.
With the addition of cold air intake and custom exhaust, the Taurus SHO’s V6 engine breathes well enough to accept a special methanol injection system. That combination adds a full 100 horsepower to the already potent package, now tripping the dyno at 465 horsepower. Developed by Rick Bottom Designs, this SHO has also had suspension and brake system tweaks to be able to handle the extra juice. A body kit, paint and all sorts of entertainment goodies finish off the package.
The wild looking Ford Edge was created by K-Daddy Kustomz to be the ultimate west coast ride. Beyond the lowering springs, most of the mods are of the cosmetic or entertainment variety. By far the most striking change is the wild DuPont custom paint, featuring Tuxedo Black, Kandy Tango Orange and the mind blowing Silver with Rainbow Flake.
When most enthusiasts think of the Steeda brand, Mustangs come to mind. In this case, they have turned out an immaculate Steeda Fusion. The Fusion really doesn’t look all that wild compared to the others. Instead, Steeda focuses on improving the performance of the breed. The cosmetics don’t necessarily come second, they just follow along behind the performance.
Not to be outdone by the aftermarket, Ford also showed off the Focus ST-R race car. There aren’t a whole lot of details on this one, but it certainly looks like it means business.
Finally, what Ford booth would be complete without at least one built Stang. MRT Performance brought along the beastly looking Predator, a 2011 Mustang GT that has been fitted with a Sean Hyland twin screw supercharger along with all sorts of other go fast bits. This machine produces over 400 horsepower, while still getting “reasonable” fuel economy.
