3 Reasons To Switch To A New Car Insurance Provider

Knowing when to switch can be difficult. Many consumers have been with their current car insurance provider for years if not decades, and may not realize that the time has come to put their current car insurance quote and policy out to pasture and find new and greener fields. Often, this is simply due to familiarity with the company and "the way they do things." Consumers often do not realize the myriad of other car insurance options available to them, from both in-person agents to online choices, and this keeps them in their current policy. As well, many clients are unsure how to make a switch, and are worried that if they do attempt to leave their current provider, they will not be able to find insurance elsewhere. Here are three signs that it is time to make an insurance change.

First, take a look at the service that is offered by your current company. How long do you typically have to wait for service, whether it is for a claim or just for a general question? Is it easy to reach a person in the company, rather than just a machine, and how well trained is that person? If you experience with your company leaves you feeling frustrated or on hold on a regular basis for more than 10 minutes at a time, it may be a good idea to consider a switch to a new company. In similar fashion, consider how your provider behaves when you file a claim. Often, a car insurance provider will seem very reasonable and reliable until a claim on a policy is made. Then, calls will not be returned and monies will not be paid out until the last possible moment. Check in to what other customers say about a company's claims service if you have never filed one, or ask the company about its policies. Be sure you know what you're getting in to, or are stuck with.

In addition, see how your company responds if you mention that you are looking elsewhere. If they are either unconcerned or make the claim that you would not be insurable with another company, that can be a good indication it is time to leave. A company should be willing to fight for your business, and to ensure that you have a car insurance quote that is commensurate with your driving experience and history. If a company does not care or uses scare tactics, it is time to move on.

Changing providers can be daunting, but many companies will assist in this process, making the switch (if needed) as painless and streamlined as possible, and making sure you are on the road again quickly.
